Kay Lim Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

This blog is a photo journal of what is happening in my life professionally and personally. I have the most fabulous job in the world, documenting love and beauty. 150 years from now we will all be gone, but our photos will remain. I strive to not only create great pictures, but pictures that are heirloom worthy. After we meet, this is where I showcase you to the world. Be sure to bookmark this and check back for updates.

Monday Favorite

Whenever one is short on inspiration, whether it be ideas for a painting or creating sculpture or just about anything I say look to nature. If you are a graphic designer looking for inspirations on color palette or bride looking to coordinate your bridesmaid dresses, look at nature’s color scheme. Notice how all the colors in nature flow and work with each other? Flowers is this week’s favorite…because they are so pretty :)

Monday Favorite

In my opinion, the best time to photograph is during the golden hour. This is the hour before sunset and sunrise. Magical things happened during this hour. The lighting is diffuse, colors are warmer and shadows are softer. We have a directional light which leads to beautiful rim light. Everything becomes breathtaking. If you want to see something in it’s truest beauty, come out during the golden hour.

Chingming

This past Sunday we celebrated Chingming or Ancestor Day. This is the day we go to our ancestor’s graveyard and sweep, clean the tombstone and offer food and wine to those who had passed away. We also burned paper money and paper replicas of clothes, shoes, watches, cars, and even houses for our family to use in the afterlife. It was great seeing familes together as most of them live out of state.

Interesting but my cousin pointed out what was written on the paper money we were burning. Hell Bank Note. Shouldn’t this say Heaven Bank Note instead? lol
