I’m on my laptop trying to archive all my work to an external drive when I happened to see this folder labeled “ancient pictures.” I clicked on it and it was all these pictures of when my family was in Cambodia. There wasn’t that many pictures since photography was considered more of a luxury back then. I really wished my parents had more pictures of us growing up, but the fact that there wasn’t a lot of pictures makes the remaining photos even more precious. Precious but oh so embarrassed…
I can’t believe we had on those hideous glasses!! But who knows, maybe we were the ones who begged and screamed for it. Don’t you always feel like you know everything when you were little and now you look back and you go “What was I thinking??” Back then, my mom sews most of our clothes and cuts our hair. I have the utmost respect for my mom.

Who is this guy?? I have no recollection of him. I’m in more pictures with him then any other people. Apprently I (or the photographer) love putting one hand on the waist.

Me and my mom. I can’t believe she rocked the Farrah Fawcett Charlie’s Angles hair! :) I love seeing pictures of my mom back then. You’re so used to seeing your parents as whatever they are now that you never imagine them as being young.

I really think nothing is as precious as photos. In the end that’s all you really have. You can say “I don’t need pictures. I will never forget all the people that I love.” Memory is fickle, and it gets even more fickler (is that a word?) as we get older. The detail starts to dim. You can already forget what their eyes look like or how they smile. BUT the magic that can stop time for a moment is photography. So I encourage you to take out those cameras and press the shutter. Make moments into pictures that you never want to forget.
